What?

The objective of the McGill Health and Social Services Community Leadership Bursary Program is to address the need for professionals with English and French language skills in health and social services in selected Quebec regions.This ongoing project works with regional community networks (Townshippers’ Association has two: Estrie and Montérégie-East) to facilitate the recruitment of English-speaking (bilingual) health students and interns who wish to become.

Who?

The bursary program is open to students from selected Quebec regions with appropriate English and French language skills pursuing full-time studies in health and social services in a government-recognizededucational institution located either outside (Category 1) or within(Categories 2 and 3)their home region.

CATEGORY 1

  • I have the language skills to offer services to both English and French-speakers;
  • I am a full-time college or university student in a government recognized health and social services program;
  • I am studying at a government recognized educational institution located outside my home region;
  • I will commit to staying in a Quebec region following the completion of my studies to work for a minimum of one year in a public health and social services institution or related organization

University: Up to $10,000 per student registered for full-time studies.

Cégep / college: Up to $5,000 per student registered for full-time studies.

CATEGORY 2 & 3

  • I have the language skills to offer services to both English and French-speakers;
  • I am a full-time vocational training, college or university student in a government recognized health and social services program;
  • I am studying at a government recognized educational institution located inside my home region;
  • I will commit to staying in a Quebec region following the completion of my studies to work for a minimum of one year in a public health and social services institution or related organization

University: Up to $5,000 per student registered for full-time studies.

Cégep / college: Up to $2,500 per student registered for full-time studies.

Vocational training: Up to $2,000 per student registered for full-time studies

Step 1

Step 2

Complete Form 1, Student Information yourself and provide a copy of Form 2, Community Involvement Reference to the two people who will be acting as your references for this bursary application.

*Please follow the instructions for Form 2 carefully and ensure that your references are mailed directly to Townshippers’ Association in a signed, sealed envelope.

Step 3

Make an appointment with Heather to review your completed Form 1 and double-check your accompanying documents before signing your bursary application and submitting it to the community network.

  1. am a Canadian citizen who has resided in a selected Quebec region for at least 2 years (24 months);
  2. am a permanent resident who has resided in a selected Quebec region for at least 2 years (24 months);
  3. have the English and French language skills to provide health and social services in a health and social services institution in Quebec;
  4. am pursuing studies in a government recognized educational institution located inside or outside my region (select appropriate category);
  5. am currently accepted into or pursuing full-time studies in a government recognized health and social services program that permits me to work professionally in Quebec upon completion of my studies;
  6. am registered full-time in a program that is preparing me for a career where I will be providing direct care and services;
  7. am committed, following completion of my studies, to return to a selected Quebec region to work in the field of health and social services in a public health and social services institution or related organization for a minimum of one year;
  8. agree, upon completion of my studies, to participate in any follow-up monitoring or evaluation of the Program conducted by Dialogue McGill and/or the community network.

Please note that the Bursary Program is not applicable if you are:

– registered in an independent or non-degree program;
– registered in distance and on-line training programs. *some exceptions apply*
