Townshippers’ Festival—one of the year’s most anticipated events in the Eastern Townships—is a day of celebration, culture, and community taking place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the heart of Bury!

Every year, the festival brings together thousands of visitors for a vibrant, inclusive, and bilingual program that reflects the unique spirit of our region. Following successful editions in Stanstead and Lennoxville, Bury is hosting this year’s event—and it promises to be exceptional!

TFest 2026 Who will be there?

Musical performers 

• N0rth is a self-taught singer-songwriter who traded Montreal for the forests of the Eastern Townships, where she lives in Bury with her two cats. She performs an old time, haunting, lyrical, mystical folk-blues, accompanying herself on banjo and autoharp. Her deep, warm voice is reminiscent of the late Lhasa de Sela, and her style draws inspiration from Karen Dalton, Barbara Dane, and Patrick Watson. Her lyrics explore human connections and our relationship with nature, eco-anxiety, a non-conformist take on femininity, the growing sense of powerlessness in our times, and the enduring importance of the forest. She records and mixes just as she composes — solo and in her own ways — and is currently working on the release of her seventh album.

Hands-on activities

• Glass painting: Having spent several years conducting stained-glass and mosaic workshops for children in Bury and Scotstown—including those from Notre-Dame-des-Bois—Chantal will be offering a mosaic-making workshop to Festival visitors. You are invited to create a piece depicting a “Starry Sky,” reflecting the fact that Bury is located within the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve.

Bury United Cultural Center’s Heritage Family Day Activities

The Cultural Center is organizing a Heritage Family Day with activities for children, adults and families of all generations.

At Pope Memorial School:

• Traditional games from the past, including washer toss, musical chairs and tug of war.
• A storytelling station where children may hear stories, create their own stories, or participate in both

At the Bury United Cultural Center:

• A heritage-themed photo booth
• A large community mural that visitors can help paint
• Café Robinson serving corn on the cob and possibly hotdogs

Throughout the three activity areas—the park, the Center and the school:

• A free Heritage Explorer Passport that participants can have stamped at each station
• A passport scavenger hunt encouraging visitors to explore all the different activity areas that day
  • • Horse-and-buggy transportation (10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.) following a route between the park, the Center and the school
