Stanstead, “place of stone”, a region where the granite industry was born with the arrival of the railroad in the 1870s.  An activity that has had a profound impact on the local economy, employment opportunities and job training… and yet, for reasons that defy explanation, the history of this vital economic activity remains virtually unwritten and archived documentation is extremely scarce. Dr. Jeffrey Packard will tell us this fascinating story.
