THE MARJORIE GOODFELLOW MEMORIAL ADDRESS
Speaking of Health: A Conversation About Taking Care of Our Communities
SHERBROOKE, Québec – The Eastern Townships Resource Centre (ETRC) is pleased to present Speaking of Health: A Conversation About Taking Care of Our Communities, a public panel discussion exploring current challenges and opportunities related to health and well-being in official language minority communities.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Hope Community Church following the Townships Book Fest.
Bringing together community leaders with experience in health, education, and community service, the panel will feature:
· Jan Draper, longtime educator and seniors’ writing workshop facilitator through the Write Here, Write Now program;
· Sylvie Gilbert Fowlis, former Executive Director of Lennoxville and District Community Aid and current President of the Comité régional d’accessibilité aux services de santé en langue anglaise; and
· Carol Mooney, co-founder of the Centre de santé de la Vallée Massawippi and member of the Lampe Foundation Review Council.
The panel will be moderated by Jacqueline Belleau on behalf of the Bishop’s University Foundation. The discussion, which will be conducted primarily in English, is expected to last about 45 minutes and will be followed by a brief Q&A session. Attendees are invited to ask their questions in the official language of their choice.
This event is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Marjorie Elizabeth Goodfellow, a steadfast advocate for access to health and social services in English and a champion of the well-being of Eastern Townships communities.
The ETRC gratefully acknowledges the Fondation du CHUS and Bishop’s University, whose support makes this event possible.
Following the panel discussion, attendees are invited to remain for the launch of Issue 51 of “The Journal of Eastern Townships Studies / La Revue d’études des Cantons-de-l’Est.”
