Library Technician – Acquisitions

Bishop’s University is seeking a Library Technician- Acquisitions for a regular full-time position. Reporting to the University Librarian the incumbent will be accountable for the ordering and processing of the library’s print and electronic serials, databases subscriptions, maintenance contracts, and standing orders. This position has a work week of 35 hours from Monday to Friday with occasional evenings and weekends required.
Nature of duties and responsibilities
- Orders and processes the print and electronic monographs, serials orders, database and services subscriptions, supplies, maintenance contracts and standing orders;
- Reviews, validates, processes, and reconciles invoices. Develops, creates, and maintains reports tracking ongoing library spending;
- Provides monthly and annual budget reports on monographs, periodicals, electronic serials and databases;.
- Gathers, compiles and maintains statistics and data files for print and electronic monographs, serials, database and services subscriptions, and standing orders;
- Gathers and enters all data for statistical surveys such as PBUQ, ACRL and others;
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- College diploma (Technical D.E.C normal duration of 3 years);
- 1 years of similar experience preferably in a library setting
- Experience with accounting considered an asset ;
- Knowledge of library management platforms, bibliographic searching and tools, ILL practices and procedures;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel) and database applications;
- Flexibility and attention to detail
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and vendors;
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and in French.
